Brazil, iPhone 3G and free will
There is no one yet lined up in front of stores as it happens right now in NYC but over 1 million individuals already signed up to get their iPhones by next month. 2 carriers started Apple's gadget offerings a week ago on their websites and the acceptance is beyond any expectation. The word is that it will cost the same as anywhere else, even after applying brazilian taxes that are considerably high. Says the press that the carriers commited to Apple to find ways to compensate the extra costs by other contractual means with end users.
I have been following all iPhone's buzz for a whole year and now the thing will hit hard here. If users abroad are so excited with iPhone, here I am afraid that things are going to go to insanity. Brazilians are very passionated and seems that iPhone brings up feelings, passions and that is what life is all about down here.
Lately, all places I have been hanging out the subject is nothing but Apple, Jobs, iPhone, Apple logo, Mac Whatever. There are a bunch of hacked iPhones already being used but most in geek's hands. The day it hits the crowd I fear soccer will be a left aside for few months as the primary subject.
Me, I will resist. I will not get one. And I am ready to have my outdated, silly, disdained Motorola Z3 kept as hidden as possible to avoid the fury of the crowd. Getting ready to be criticised, cursed and considered a museum curator to be hanging with such a piece of antique.
Anyways, I will take that because I am simply not ready to hand over and allow myself to be internet connect at anytime, anywhere. And please do not mention free will. That does not apply to an addicted. Or there I keep this barrier up to prevent my total surrender or I will be dragged irreversibly into WWW.
